High Impact Documents - Why am I doing this? What is my plan?
Sharing a draft consulting (PowerPoint) template for your feedback. High Impact Documents - BETA (13th Dec 2023)
Making an impact in person and via documents is an important skill for future managers and consultants. This deck is a start on how I create “High Impact Documents”. The approach is influenced by years as a Big4 and Tier 1 Tech consultant, plus many mentors from AT Kearney, McKinsey, BCG, Bain etc. (Yes, I am just name dropping these for the algorithm).
Template Deck Updates : 13th Dec 2023
I’ve made a few new slides (linked below) and importantly decided how to organise the sample deck. When I create a slide I’m typically trying to answer one question on the slide. I ask myself:
Is it a who question? a what question? or where, when, why or how question?
What level of detail does the audience need? Really detailed or straightforward?
Based on this I’m organising the examples into Who Questions, What Questions, and Where, When, Why and How Questions sections plus: Cover Pages, Executive Summaries, Section Breaks, Agenda and eventually a bit about the deck. Within each section I’ll have examples from the detailed to the more high level, and some in between.
What’s new and cool?
Other than organising I’ve added two lots of new examples: Who Questions and Section Breaks.
The slides that answer “Who Questions” are designed to answer questions like: Who is in what position? Who is their boss? Who is your team? Who are you? and range from the really simple to the more complex.
I like my Section Breaks. If you have a big document it’s easy to get lost. I like to use Section Breaks (and breadcrumbs) to help the audience keep track. The way I do it is through having an agenda on each section and showing where you are in the agenda. Simple but effective.
It’s now uploaded and ready to go. I’d love to read your feedback.
